As part of the European Youth Week, every year the best European initiatives targeting youth realized in the framework of EU’s Youth Programme (Erasmus +) are publicly recognized and awards are given.
This year from among all the Hungarian projects this recognition goes to DIA’s debate programme, Get involved (Szólj bele!).
This five year long initiative focusses on the development of young people’s debating skills and the enhancement of the dialogue between young people and decision makers. During this five year period 80 debate events were organized in secondary schools involving 4500 young people who discussed issues like youth unemployment, active citizenship and the role of schools in preparing active citizens together with local decision makers.
The European Commission’s recognition means a lot to us and we are grateful to all the participating schools, teachers, students and decision makers who voluntarily contributed to the programme’s success. Special thanks go to the OSI Youth Initiative that secured co-funding throughout all these years.
